The
second annual APSCo Deloitte UK Recruitment Index has reported that the
recruitment sector appears to be in good shape, with almost 70% of professional
recruitment firms reporting an increase in net fee income over a 12 month
period. Average annual growth across all respondents was 29%. It’s often said
that recruitment is a barometer of the UK economy.
Camino recruits non fee earning staff for the recruitment sector. When our clients are investing heavily in non-fee earning support staff, that’s a sign of their confidence, so in this way I believe Camino is a real barometer of the UK recruitment sector, and therefore the economy as a whole.
I’m
therefore delighted to announce that Camino recently celebrated a strong end to
our most recent financial year, with the addition of new staff, a conference
trip to Portugal and a move to larger offices within our existing premises.
Turnover
for the year to 31st July reached just under £1m, with net fee income over 80%
ahead of the previous year. The final quarter was particularly strong, with
several high profile CFO placements in quick succession. These included CFO’s
for fast growing businesses such as Spencer Ogden and ConSol Partners, as well
as for Aim Listed Rethink Group plc.
This
success has given us the confidence to make 4 recent additions to our team. Tom
Garratt, Sophie Horgan and Pete Waugh have joined the delivery team as trainee
consultants. This team is now led by Director Matt Newman who has taken
responsibility for service delivery and account management. Karl Jones has
joined in a business development capacity, working alongside Director Sachin
Ruparelia, who now takes responsibility for ongoing business development.
These
appointments bring the Camino team to 13 people, with plans in place for this
to grow further. My own role will now take on a greater external focus as I
network extensively across the recruitment sector, regularly attending events
put on by APSCo,, Elite Recruitment Network, Recruitment International, UK
Recruiter, The Job Post and others, as well as sector focused events hosted by
leader industry suppliers and advisors.
I
will also be stepping up our marketing and social media presence, starting with
this news release, our aim is to consolidate Camino’s position as a specialist
in our sector and the obvious choice for any recruitment company looking to
recruit into their accounting, finance, business support and infrastructure
functions.
A
particularly pleasing aspect of last year’s performance is that a growing
proportion of our fees have come from areas outside of our traditional
strengths in finance recruitment for the recruitment sector, with recent
placements in areas such as HR, Marketing, Legal & Compliance, Office
management , Internal recruitment and Learning & Development. Camino now
recruits almost any role in recruitment except sales and fee earners…
We
have also recently completed our first International assignment with a CEO appointment
in Private Equity backed recruitment / outsourcing business.
These
are exciting developments for us and demonstrate that Camino is truly able to
support its recruitment sector clients with non-fee earning staff at all levels
from back office to boardroom.
Long
may the sector stay strong for the benefit of everyone in recruitment and UK
plc !
